Bumdra Trek (Paro) is a 2 days trek starting from Sangchoekor Buddhist collage in Paro and ends at the base of Taktsang Monastery, Paro.

Day 01. Arrive Paro 2280 meters (By Druk Air): You will be received by our representative  at the airport and drive you to the hotel.

After lunch, visit

  • Ta Dzong
  • Paro Rimpung Dzong.

Dinner and over night in Tashi Namgay Resort or similar.  www.tnr.bt .

Optional activities you can choose:

  • Hike to Dzongdrakha Monastery.
  • Hike to Nunnery.
  • Village walk.
  • Mountain biking around Paro valley.
  • Drive to Chelila pass to view Higher Himalayas bordering Tibet including Mt. Jumolhari.
  • Visit to a Farm house.

Paro:

Day 02. Paro (2280 meters): Excursion to Taktsang Monastery:

  • Hike to Taktsang monastery as good acclimatization for the trek.

After lunch, visit

  • Ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong.
  • Kichu Lhakhang that was built in 659 by the Tibetan King Srongsen Gampo.

Dinner and over night in Tashi Namgay Resort or similar.

Optional activities you can choose:

  • Hike to Dzongdrakha Monastery.
  • Hike to Nunnery.
  • Village walk.
  • Mountain biking around Paro valley.
  • Drive to Chelila pass to view Higher Himalayas bordering Tibet including Mt. Jumolhari.

Paro:

Day 03. Trek to Bumdra Monastery:

Hike from Sang Choekor Buddhist College in the Paro valley (2,800 m) to Yak pasture where we camp below Bumdra Monastery (3,800 m): After breakfast, drive to Sangchoekor Buddhist College. We walk up hill for 2 hours. We walk past Chhoe Tse Lhakhang and we came near the Bumdra Monastery (Cave of Thousand Prayers).

After lunch, we can visit the monastery or climb a peak nearby at around 4000 meter. We return to the camp. Dinner and overnight in camp.

Duration: 3–4 hours to camp, optional 2–3 hours return trek to peak,

Day 04. Return hike from Bumdra Monastery camp via Zangto Pelri Monastery: After breakfast, we return from Bumdra via the gate of Taktsang Monastery. We descend down and reach the base of the hill where our vehicles will pick us up and drive to Thimphu. On the way, view Tamchog Lhakhang.  Dinner and overnight in Hotel Migmar or similar. www.hotelmigmar.com

Duration: 5 – 7 hours. Difficulty: Moderate.

Thimphu: 

Day 05. Thimphu Sightseeing: (Altitude 2320 m): After breakfast, visit

  • National Memorial Chorten (1974)
  • Dupthop Lhakhang
  • National Library
  • Painting School.

After lunch, visit

  • Tallest Statue of Buddha in the world
  • Archery Match.
  • Tashichho Dzong
  • Handicrafts Emporium/Shopping for souvenirs

Dinner and overnight in Hotel Migmar or similar.

Optional activities you can choose:

  • Hike to Phajoding/ Tango/Cheri  Monastery.
  • Village walk to Kabisa
  • Mountain biking around Thimphu valley.
  • Talk on GNH/Buddhism
  • Bhutanese Cultural Show

Thimphu: 

Day 06. Thimphu – Punakha: (Altitude 1310 m) (72 Km, 3 hours drive). Drive to Punakha via Dochula pass. On the way, visit

  • Royal Botanical Garden,
  • Chime Lhakhang.

After lunch,

Optional Activities you can choose:

  • White Rafting in Pho Chu/ Mo Chu.
  • Visit to Talo Monastery.
  • Hike to Khamsum Yulley Lhakhang

Punakha: 

Day 07. Punakha – Thimphu: After breakfast, drive to Thimphu.

After lunch, visit to

  • Sangaygang view point
  • Changangkha Monastery
  • Takin Preserve Centre

Dinner and overnight in Hotel Migmar or similar.

Thimphu: 

Day 08. Thimphu – Paro (Departure): After breakfast, drive to the airport and farewell

THINGS TO BRING FOR A TREK IN BHUTAN
Personal clothing: strong normal clothing (according to season). Preferably cotton, even for summer, woolen clothing for the evening and winter.
For Trekking, one must bring :
• Strong comfortable trekking boots – water-resistant for the rainy period-June-August.
• Sunscreen
• Flash light
• Rain coat (especially for rainy period –June-August)
• Head gear/hat/cap; sun and rain protection
• Water pills – for extra caution in purifying stream; (boiled water is provided at all times during the trek)
• Aspirin – incase of altitude sickness
• Lots of socks
• Warm clothes
